WWW Wednesday: 29th April 2020

WWW Wednesday is currently hosted by Taking On A World of Words, and asks three simple questions that allow me to chat about what I’m reading, and also my most recent and upcoming reads!

What are you currently reading?

I’m afraid this is going to be a bit of a boring answer for anyone who has seen my last couple of ‘WWW Wednesday’ posts. I haven’t been in much a reading mood for the last week so I’ve only read and finished two books and it wasn’t any of the ones I’ve been reading for quite a few weeks now! I’m still enjoying ‘Born A Crime’ and ‘Priory of The Orange Tree’ but they’re slow reads for me, and ‘The Deathless Divide’ is just rubbing me the wrong way at the moment – I have a couple of problems with it so far.

What have you just finished reading?

Fortunately, I finished one of the books I mentioned I was reading last week. ‘Ignite The Sun’ was an interesting read and I’m not sure what I’m going to rate it yet as I still need to write my review for it. It was great at parts and I liked the world-building and some of the characters, but sometimes it felt like certain plot-points/twists were introduced just for convenience because they just so happened to save the protagonist later.

I picked up ‘When God Was A Rabbit’ for a reread this week, I wasn’t planning on doing so but I found myself really glad I did. It’s a beautiful story that celebrates life, all the good and bad of it, and is largely a story about how you can always come home to your family – whether that family is by blood or not.

What do you plan on reading next?

For the last couple of weeks I’ve mentioned ‘The Cruel Prince’ and whilst I still want to get to that soon, there a couple of reads I know I’ll definitely start in the next week. This year I’m taking part in the Asian Readathon in May and these are two books I’m going to read for it. I know I’ll start ‘Little Fires Everywhere’ at the beginning of May as it’s part of an optional readalong for the readathon. However, I don’t know if out of the four other books I have picked I’ll chose ‘Empire of Sand’ first but I think I will – it depends on my mood though!

I hope everyone’s had a good reading week and happy reading to you all!

  1. Ah, sometimes it just doesn’t work too well. The reading, I mean. I am wondering if I should just stop all my current reads and start something completely new. 😛
Ignite the sun surely looks interesting. The cover is beautiful. 🙂

    1. haha I know the feeling, it’s frustrating especially when you’re actually enjoying most of the ones you’re reading! It’s definitely interesting and has a great take on magic, but it also has it’s flaws!

  2. Sorry you haven’t made much progress in Born a Crime, as it is one of my favorites. I did, however, listen to the audiobook, so maybe that helped. I have refused to watch Little Fires Everywhere on Hulu until I read the book, so I should get on that. What is the Asian readathon? Hope you have a good week of reading! 1. I am really enjoying it and I’m listening to the audiobook, I think I’ve discovered I’m just low with audiobooks for some reason! The Asian Readathon is a readathon hosted by readwithcindy on youtube where you read books written by asian authors in the month of May. There are a few rules like read a book with a character you can relate to etc. It’s the first year I’m taking part in it!

  3. I loved Born A Crime! It was my first audiobook and it’s narrated by Noah himself, so that made it an even more entertaining read. I wasn’t such a big fan of Priory though… I hope you continue to enjoy all your reads though! ❤
